Gertrude Hive

One of the most frequent questions people ask me when I'm talking bees is how do I know which hive is which.

Frankly, I cheat.

My bee hives have initials painted on the back side - G for Gertrude, M for Mildred - so I can keep track of the colonies.

It also helps bees find home when they return to their hive.
